Nikon Z50 II: price increase in Japan from June 1, 2026
Nikon Japan is raising the price of the Z50 II by 14,700 yen, approximately 10%, effective June 1, 2026.

Nikon Japan announced on May 18, 2026 a revision of its factory suggested retail prices, effective June 1, 2026. The Z50 II body-only rises from 145,200 yen to 159,900 yen, an increase of 14,700 yen (+10%). Four Z Series mirrorless references are affected, along with binoculars, loupes, and accessories.
In its official statement, Nikon Japan attributes the decision to rising costs of raw materials, manufacturing, and logistics. The brand notes that internal optimization efforts are no longer sufficient to absorb these additional costs over the medium and long term.
This increase comes amid global pricing pressure. Nikon USA has not announced an equivalent revision at this stage. If the Japanese price hike were to carry over to the United States, the Z50 II currently listed at $1,000 could reach approximately $1,100 according to The Phoblographer.

Spec → impact → verdict
The Z50 II features a 20.9 MP APS-C sensor and the EXPEED 7 processor, making it Nikon's most recent entry-level mirrorless camera. A 10% increase remains manageable for a buyer already committed to the Z ecosystem, but it weighs more heavily on a price-sensitive segment where APS-C competition is fierce. Outside Japan, no decision has been confirmed: European and American buyers can still order at the current price. Potential deal-breaker if the increase becomes widespread: the Z50 II would lose its pricing advantage over competing APS-C mirrorless cameras positioned below the 900-euro mark.
